Why Run for Mayor…
Unlike most potential candidates I’ll tell you some reasons I’m not running for mayor.
I’m not doing it for the money. Frankly in my current occupation I make more than the mayor so in essence I will be taking a pay cut.
I’m not running because there is a great pension plan. As far as I no there is no pension plan for the mayor. I will be forced to opt out of my pension plan and will need to make alternate arrangements if possible.
I’m not running because of all the travel perks. For the last 30+ years I have spent more time away from home than I would care to remember. I have a unique vocation and could live and work anywhere in the world yet I have chosen to remain and work from Thunder Bay.
I’m not running to be the centre of attention or boost my ego. I’m a private person and enjoy my time with family and friends.
I am however running for mayor because as the leader of the largest corporation in the district of Thunder Bay that being the City of Thunder Bay this city is about to face some of the most challenging economic problems ever and the message being sent from the mayors office is at best indifference to the people that own this city, you the tax payer!!
